“Today I am potential, tomorrow I am success” -June 14, 1991
“Today is January 14, 2005, and I am a writer again”-January 14, 2005
Both of these quotes are by yours truly. Profound-not at all. Inspiring-probably only to me. But true, they be. Today is also the 14, November 14, 2008, and it is fitting given my history with this number, apparantly, that I begin today to blog.
This dates have represented the significant recording of days where my life changed. The 1991 quote was penned I was pretty young and was attending my first leadership conference. I still have the little piece of paper scrap I wrote it on. Oh my, how excited and motivated I was that day. The 2005 quote is so import because I wrote the first day that I began to write for a living. I wrote in, in its own file, and saved it on my new comptuer, at the time. Both have special meaning for me and both have lead me to this day.
So I begin to blog. I must say, I am turned off by the word blog. It is so, well, blah. Or, it sounds sort of like bog, which is to imply mud or perhaps to be stuck. Not appealing. I rather like the idea of “journal” or “speak my mind” or “statement” to encompass this venue for writing, but I am not the techie who coined the term. I’ve read that it stands for ‘web log’ which was, in that fashion of all things online, shortened to ‘blog’ over time. That makes since I guess, still, I am unimpressed an unispired by the dismal, glut-sounding word, blog.
Well that stated, I’m ready to announce my endeavors for this site. Quite the contrary to the blah blog, this site, prosperityagresources, is here for a useful function.
I am a writer, speaker and small rural business consultant. I live on 31 acres in Madison County, Indiana, near the town of Elwood. I live and write from the same place, down a quite country road we like to call simply by it’s 911 address-750 W. We can proudly say we have more cows per capita than any other region in Madison County and my husband and I, being cow lovers and raisers, contribute to this unscientific poll. We show and sell beef breeding stock and operate a regional beef and pork business selling direct to consumers.
I am also a grant writer for farmers, rural small businesses and muncipalites. That will be one of the great focuses of this site. As name of my company (Prosperity Ag Resources and Communications) suggests, I am a strong proponent of creating success and abundance. This site will feature commentary about policy, occassionally politics, rural development opportunities and funding ideas. I will also present clarifications about grants and grant terms to assist readers in learning about the process of applying for funding.
I will post useful information, client successes, opportunities, free articles and funding announcements. Please check back often. I’ll be here.
